Police bust ‘one-chance’ gang, arrest two in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command arrested two suspected “one chance” robbery syndicate members, 29-year-old Bidemi Tijani and 42-year-old Olajide Rasaq, on August 15, 2026, following a hot chase toward the Ita-Oshin area of Abeokuta

According to the command, the syndicate operates by disguising as commercial taxi operators to rob unsuspecting passengers of mobile phones, cash, and other valuables.

Acting on the tip-off that members were sighted in a taxi heading toward Ita-Oshin, VCRU operatives gave chase and intercepted the vehicle. Both suspects confessed during interrogation to being active members of the gang terrorizing commuters in the state capital. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members and recover exhibits.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the VCRU for their swift and tactical response. He reiterated the Command’s resolve to rid Ogun State of criminal elements, warning that there will be no safe haven for perpetrators.
