The President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Chief Mrs. Olufunmilola Mutiat Disu, on Thursday, 27 August 2026, joined dignitaries at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, for the second edition of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Social Investment Programme for families of fallen heroes, hosted by the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

As part of the programme, ₦500,000 each was presented to 1,638 widows of fallen Armed Forces and Police personnel to support their livelihoods and the welfare of their dependants. The beneficiaries comprised 1,315 widows of Armed Forces personnel and 323 widows of Nigeria Police Force personnel.
The initiative underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting families who have made profound sacrifices in service to the nation, while strengthening welfare and economic support for those left behind by Nigeria’s fallen heroes.

The event also provided an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of sustained support for the families of deceased security personnel, particularly widows and their dependants, whose welfare remains an important part of honouring the sacrifices of those who served the country.
