Police Arrest Teenager For Alleged Impersonation, Attempted Robbery In Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old man, Aliyu Sani, over an alleged robbery attempt and impersonation in the Kofar Sauri area of Katsina metropolis.

The command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, saying the suspect was arrested on August 22, 2026, following a report by concerned citizens.

According to him, police received the information at about 7 p.m. that the suspect was chasing an unidentified person while allegedly pointing a toy pistol at the victim with the intention of robbing him.

He said police operatives, working with members of a local vigilante group, responded swiftly and arrested Sani at about 8 p.m. in Kofar Sauri.

“Upon arrest and search of the suspect, a black toy pistol was recovered in his possession,” the statement said.

Aliyu said the suspect was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation during preliminary interrogation about how he obtained the toy firearm.

He added that Sani will remain in police custody while investigations continue.

The Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar, commended members of the community and the local vigilante group for their vigilance and cooperation with the police.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station to help curb criminal activities across the state.
