Bandits abandoned a kidnapped couple and fled after engaging troops in a gun battle in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP) rescued Hassan Isah and his wife, Juliana Hassan, after responding to a report of their abduction in Ateli village.
The incident occurred around 12:30am on Friday, September 11, 2026, when troops deployed at Mayir Garrison, alongside local vigilantes, launched a pursuit of the kidnappers.
The troops later made contact with the kidnappers, leading to a gun battle.
“During the encounter, the kidnappers abandoned the victims and fled into the surrounding area, allowing the troops to rescue the couple safely,” Zagazola reported.
Isah sustained injuries during the incident and was evacuated to General Hospital, Wamba, for medical attention.
Security forces have continued efforts to track down the fleeing kidnappers, while troops remain in the area to prevent further attacks.
