Security Guard Lands in Police Net Over Illegal Shooting in Ibadan

Men of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested a security guard for allegedly shooting a resident in Ibadan, the state capital.

The command disclosed this in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade.

The statement was made available on Wednesday.

Ayanlade explained that the 49-year-old security guard, Oladapo Felix, was arrested in connection with the shooting of a resident at Zion Estate, Yakoya Area of Elewuro, Akobo, Ibadan.

He added that the command recovered four locally made single-barrel guns and a machete from the suspect’s duty post.

“The victim stated that he identified himself as a resident of the house but was nevertheless shot by the security guard.

“Following the report, police operatives from Akobo Division promptly visited the scene and subsequently arrested the suspect, Oladapo Felix, aged 49, of Zion Estate, Yakoya Area of Elewuro, Akobo, Ibadan.

“The victim is currently receiving medical attention and responding to treatment, while investigators are intensifying efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the shooting, particularly what transpired immediately before the incident and the circumstances leading to the use of the firearm,” Ayanlade.
