The two students of the Ondo State-owned Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Andrel Eloho Okah, 25, and John Friday Abba, 19, who had been missing for the last three weeks, have been declared dead.
One of the corpses of the missing students was found at a border community between the Akoko axis of Ondo State and Ekiti State, while efforts are ongoing to locate the body of the male student, Okah.
The deceased students were both 200-level undergraduates of the state-owned institution in the Department of History and International Studies, Faculty of Arts, and the Department of Economics, Faculty of Agriculture.
According to the Ondo State Police Command, three suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing of the deceased students, with their landlord, Oladele Femi, popularly known as ‘Tallest’, identified as the prime suspect.
While briefing newsmen at the state police headquarters in Akure, the state capital, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, said the female student, Abba, was raped before being killed along with her male friend, with an iPhone mobile phone and a Lexus RX 350 belonging to Okah stolen by the suspects.
Lawal said, “The principal suspect had an altercation about a misunderstanding with John Friday Abba and engaged the services of some people to deal with the guy. I want to use the word that he used — ‘to treat his fuck-up.’”
