Lagos police nab notorious ‘One Chance’ gang leader, two others

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja Division, have arrested a notorious “one chance” kingpin and two members of his gang during a routine patrol along Agege Motor Road, Ikeja.

The suspects, identified as Bode Oludayisin, Michael Sowunmi, and David Olawaye, were apprehended after a victim raised an alarm while being robbed inside their minibus.

According to the police, one of the suspects has been on the wanted list for his role as leader of a violent syndicate responsible for multiple “one chance” robberies across the state.

Responding swiftly to the distress call, officers intercepted the suspects inside an unregistered commercial minibus used as their operational vehicle. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of several incriminating items, including a Tecno Spark 20 smartphone belonging to a victim, an axe, two concrete interlock bricks, heavy stones believed to have been used to attack past victims, and a broken bottle. All items have been registered as exhibits.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang operated with commercial minibuses, popularly known as Korope, disguising themselves as regular passengers.


They reportedly picked up unsuspecting commuters from locations such as Oshodi before diverting them to secluded areas where they subjected their victims to intimidation, violence, and robbery.

The case has since been transferred to the Command’s Special Squad 1, which is now working to track down fleeing members and dismantle the network.

Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commended the patrol team for their quick intervention, noting that the arrest of the wanted kingpin marks a major breakthrough in the fight against “one chance” robberies in Lagos.
