Notorious kidnap kingpin arrested by Police in Orokam in Benue

Security forces have arrested a suspected kidnapping kingpin, Yusuf Muhamed, in Orokam, Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State.

Muhamed was captured on Monday after a chase led by DSP Stephen Ubobong.

He was later identified by three kidnap victims who confirmed he served as “OC Torture” in the kidnappers’ camp, noting that his bad left hand made him easily recognizable.

The arrest comes amid rising cases of kidnapping in the Orokam axis.

In response, Ogbadibo Council Chairman, Hon. Sunday Ajunwa, recently met with the Benue State Commissioner of Police and other security agencies, leading to a dusk-to-dawn curfew and the deployment of a tactical squad, Mobile Police, and Civil Protection Guard operatives. Over 20 suspects have since been apprehended, with Muhamed’s arrest described as a major breakthrough.

Residents welcomed the development, though some victims expressed fears that the suspect might be released if corruption interferes. They appealed to the Inspector General of Police to closely monitor the case.

In a reaction, Hon. Ajunwa commended the security team for their commitment and assured that efforts to restore peace in Orokam will be sustained.
