Police in Zamfara State have launched an investigation into the killing of a resident of Moriki town by local hunters during a night patrol on Sunday.
According to sources, the incident happened around 8:30 pm when two hunters on routine patrol allegedly shot the victim, identified as Yahaya Ibrahim.
It was gathered that Ibrahim had shone a torchlight on the hunters, prompting them to fire at him in the stomach.
He was rushed to the General Hospital in Moriki but was confirmed dead on arrival.
Police operatives later visited the scene, while investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting.
