Police Bust criminal hideouts, arrest 153 suspects in Jigawa

Police in Jigawa State has smashed criminal hideouts and arrested 153 suspects across the state.

Spokesman of the command SP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the arrests in a statement issued to newsmen on Monday.

He said the development followed sustained efforts to rid Jigawa State of crime and criminality.


“Operatives of the Jigawa State Police Command have successfully carried out coordinated raids on criminals’ hideouts, black spots, and drug joints across the forty-two (42) Divisions in the State”

” During the well-coordinated operations, a total of one hundred and fifty-three (153) suspects were arrested for various offences ranging from drug peddling, possession of illicit substances, and other related crimes,” the statement said.

“During the raid exhibits were recovered from the suspects, including Exol tablets= 3,139, D5 tablets= 2,977, Tramadol capsules= 1,774, Cannabis (dry leaves)= 3 blocks, 943 wraps , Diazepam 98, Rubber solution= 176, Suck and die substances 46, Syrup 500 bottles ,Pregabalin 5, Pentazocine= 37, Vegakris= 22 , Snuff= 30, Cash amounting to ₦228,570 and One boxer motorcycle.”

The suspects were charged to court after a discreet investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, CP Dahiru Muhammad, commended the operatives for their gallant efforts and reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to combating crime in all its forms.

He further appealed to members of the public to continue to support the police with timely and credible information that will aid in the ongoing fight against drug menace across the state.

The Command assured the people of Jigawa State of its determination to provide a safe and secure environment for all, warning criminal elements to either repent or face the law.
