Troops recover cache of arms, ammunition in Plateau community

Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE have raided the hideout of a notorious bandit at Rawaya Village, near Kazok in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, recovering a cache of arms and ammunition.

Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer for Operation ENDURING PEACE, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the operation followed credible intelligence reports about the stockpiling of weapons by bandits in Barkin Ladi.

According to the statement, the suspect fled as troops advanced on the location. A thorough search of the hideout led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, one G3 rifle, one revolver pistol, four AK-47 rifle magazines, three G3 rifle magazines, 1,198 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, four rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, three mobile phones, and other sundry items.


The statement added that the recovered items are currently in custody for further action, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and his accomplices.

“Operation ENDURING PEACE will remain decisive in its onslaught against criminal elements, while efforts to keep the Joint Operations Area safe will also be sustained,” the statement said.
