Jigawa police confirm injury of ACP during raid on criminal hideout

The Jigawa State Police Command has confirmed that a senior officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kundi Dauda Abubakar, was injured after police operatives were ambushed during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Jahun Local Government Area of the state.

Police sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 7:00 a.m. on December 21 at the Atuman Fulani settlement in Jahun LGA.

According to the sources, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence on the location of suspects who had earlier attacked policemen on duty at the Divisional Police Officer’s (DPO) quarters in Aujara, Jahun LGA, on November 25, during which a riot gun was stolen.

“Acting on the intelligence, a team of policemen led by ACP Kundi Dauda Abubakar stormed the suspected hideout at Atuman Fulani settlement,” a source said.

However, the suspects reportedly laid an ambush and launched an attack on the officers using arrows.

“During the confrontation, ACP Kundi Dauda Abubakar was struck by an arrow. He was immediately evacuated to Jahun General Hospital, where he received treatment and is currently in stable condition,” the source added.

The sources further disclosed that two of the suspects were shot by the police during the exchange but managed to flee with gunshot wounds.

Efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects, as well as to recover the stolen riot gun.
