Police nab three suspects for alleged armed robbery in Kano


The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered firearms and live ammunition in a major operation aimed at tackling crime in the state.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.

According to the statement, the arrests were carried out by operatives of the Command’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Base, Dorayi, following credible intelligence.

“One of the suspects, Isyaku Maude, 37, popularly known as ‘Dan Sokoto’, was arrested in Bachirawa Quarters, Kano,” the statement read.

He was described as a suspected armed robber allegedly involved in a series of robbery attacks within the Kano metropolis.

“The suspect confessed to committing several armed robberies in different parts of Kano with members of his gang,” the police said.

Further investigations led to the arrest of two additional suspects, identified as Sahabi Danladi, 20, of Kofar Mata Quarters, and Najib Ibrahim, 32, of Bachirawa Quarters.

During the operation, the police recovered a Beretta pistol, a locally fabricated Beretta pistol, and 23 rounds of 9mm live ammunition from the suspects.

Commending the officers involved, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised their dedication and professionalism in the fight against crime.

“The Commissioner of Police appreciates the commitment of the officers and also thanks the good people of Kano State for their continued support and cooperation,” the Command, noting that investigations are ongoing and that further arrests may be made.
