Police nab suspected motorcycle thief in Yobe

In its sustained effort to rid the state of criminal elements, Yobe State Police Command, said its operatives have arrested a 29-year-old suspect who specialized in motorcycle theft.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Damaturu on Thursday.

The PPRO said, “On 10th February, 2026, at about 1745 hours, one Bukar Lawan, male, of Sabon Fegi Ward, Damaturu, reported at the division that earlier the same day, he visited a friend at Nasarawa Ward, Damaturu, where he parked his Car-Go motorcycle, ash and black in colour, in front of the friend’s residence.

“Upon his return, he discovered that an unknown person had stolen the motorcycle”.


According to him, upon receipt of the report, police operatives swiftly commenced investigation, which led to the tracking and arrest of the suspect on
Thursday.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the crime and the stolen motorcycle was recovered and registered as an exhibit”, Abdulkarim said.

The command’s PPRO assured that the recovered motorcycle will be released to the rightful owner, while investigation continues in preparation for prosecution.
