Delta: Police arrest 21-year-old suspected armed robber, recover arms, ammunition

Operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, have arrested a 21-year-old suspected armed robber in Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

The suspect was arrested in the early hours of March 1, 2026, at about 03:35hrs,.

The operatives also recovered a fabricated Beretta pistol loaded with eight rounds of live ammunition that had been hidden by the suspect.


Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the development in a statement sent to our correspondent in Warri.

The police image maker said, “Following persistent complaints by residents of Sapele concerning serial robberies carried out by a motorcycle-riding syndicate, operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team, led by ASP Julius Robinson, carried out a targeted operation in the early hours of March 1, 2026.

“At about 03:35hrs, one Prince Omanure, also known as Anini, aged 21, of the Ghana Area of Sapele, was arrested.”

According to SP Edafe, “During interrogation, the suspect led operatives to a bush along the Warri–Sapele Road by the Trailer Park, where a fabricated Beretta pistol loaded with eight rounds of live ammunition had been hidden.”

He added, “The suspect has provided useful information to investigators, and the command is actively pursuing other members of the syndicate.”
