Two people have been nabbed in Adamawa State for allegedly abducting a four-year-old child and demanding for ransom.
The Adamawa State Police Command arrested the two suspected kidnappers in connection with the abduction of the four-year-old boy in Ngballang, a community in Numan Local Government Area.
The Police authorities said on Friday that the incident was reported on March 2, 2026, when Umar Ibrahim, a resident of Ngballang, lodged a complaint at the Numan Police Division that his son, Ramadan, had gone out to play on March 1 but failed to return home.
According to the authorities, initial efforts by the family and community members to locate the child were unsuccessful, only for the father to receive a call a few days later from an unknown number informing him that his son had been kidnapped.
The kidnappers allegedly demanded a ransom of ₦800,000 for the child’s release.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, following the report, operatives attached to the Numan Division launched an investigation which led to the arrest of the two suspects identified as Sadiq Ali, 19, and Shitu Umar, 23, both residents of Lafiya in Lamurde Local Government Area.
Nguroje said the suspects confessed to the crime during interrogation, and the command has since directed its Anti-Kidnapping Unit to take over the case for further investigation and possible prosecution.
