Troops of the Nigerian Army have thwarted a kidnapped attempt and rescued a victim in Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State.
This was made known in a post on X by a counter-insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama.
Makama revealed that the incident took place on March 21 when suspected kidnappers abducted a civilian who had reportedly gone hunting at Zabir village.
It states that troops of Sector 1, deployed at Lamingo, swiftly responded to the distress call and moved to the location.
“On sighting the troops, the kidnappers abandoned the victim and fled into nearby bushes,” the source said.
It stressed that the rescued victim was subsequently debriefed by the troops, while efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.
According to Makama, troops have intensified patrols in the area to prevent further incidents and ensure the safety of residents.
