Lakurawa Fighters Invade Kebbi, Displace Residents

Suspected Lakurawa fighters have reportedly attacked communities in Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State, setting homes ablaze and forcing residents to flee.

The incident was disclosed on Thursday in a post shared on X by security analyst Bakatsine, who said the attackers targeted Kawara and nearby villages, leaving widespread destruction.

According to the post, several houses were burnt, with many families losing their belongings and means of livelihood.

One of the victims, identified as Salisu, was said to have lost everything after his home was engulfed by fire.

The report added that some of the attackers were later neutralised following a clash with security operatives and local vigilantes in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

“Lakurawa, which attacked Kawara and nearby villages in Shanga LGA of Kebbi State, set homes ablaze and destroyed entire communities. Salisu had lost everything in the fire that engulfed his village. While reports say some of the attackers were later neutralised after a clash with security forces and vigilantes in Borgu LGA of Niger State, the pain and loss remain devastating,” Bakatsine wrote
