Police arrest five suspected kidnappers, rescue victim in Edo

The Edo State Police Command has arrested five suspected kidnappers and rescued a female victim in Jattu.

The spokesperson for the command, ASP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, May 18, 2026.

According to the PPRO, the suspects, Nura Saminu, 24, Shaibu Isah, 23, Suraj Sabitu, 23, Yajubu Sagiru, 23, and Oseni Abdullahi, 26, abducted the victim, Jemila Ibrahim on May 13.

“On 13th May, 2026, at about 1930hrs, security operatives engaged in sustained bush combing operations around Okpege River Road, Iyuku Community in Jattu, successfully rescued one Jemila Ibrahim, who was kidnapped on 10th May, 2026,” the statement read.

“The victim was rescued unhurt and taken to the hospital for medical attention while the suspects allegedly responsible for her abduction have been successfully arrested.

“The suspects are currently in custody and will be arraigned before court upon conclusion of investigation.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika,fdc commends the operatives involved in the operation and reassures residents of Edo state of the Command’s commitment to sustaining the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes in Edo State.”
