…Operation follows intelligence-led raid in Fune LGA
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, working alongside members of the Yobe State Hunters Group, have arrested five suspected kidnappers and recovered a cache of locally fabricated firearms during an intelligence-led operation in Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The suspects were apprehended on 23 July 2026 during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Jegalari Village, following credible intelligence on their alleged activities.
The operation was carried out by troops of the 233 Battalion, deployed at the Damaturu Military Cantonment.
Security sources said the troops recovered three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistol, assorted ammunition and four mobile phones believed to have been used in the suspects’ criminal operations.
The arrested suspects are currently in military custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of their involvement in kidnapping and other criminal activities.
Operation HADIN KAI said the operation forms part of sustained intelligence-driven efforts to dismantle criminal and terrorist networks operating across the North-East and deny them freedom of movement.
The military also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, noting that community cooperation remains essential to ongoing efforts to improve security and protect lives and property across the region.
