Troops bust terror network, arrest kingpin, ammunition courier in Kaduna

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested a suspected terrorist kingpin, an alleged ammunition courier and a suspected logistics supplier during separate intelligence-led operations in Kaduna State.

The development was contained in a post shared on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Thursday night.

According to the post, the operations were carried out on Wednesday across Kubau, Igabi and Birnin Gwari Local Government Areas as part of efforts to disrupt terrorist networks and their supply chains.

Makama said troops first raided Dabar Dabo, a community identified as a terrorist hideout in Kubau LGA, where they arrested a suspected kingpin and two other members of his group.

“The suspects were taken into military custody for further investigation and intelligence gathering,” Makama wrote.

In another operation, troops acting on intelligence intercepted a 50-year-old woman in Igabi LGA who was allegedly transporting ammunition.

According to Makama, security personnel recovered 300 rounds of ammunition hidden inside a bag in her possession.

He said preliminary findings showed that the suspect had travelled from Zamfara State to Lafia, where she allegedly collected the ammunition before heading to Birnin Gwari for delivery to terrorist elements operating in the area.

Later the same day, troops working with a community vigilante group arrested another suspected logistics supplier in Birnin Gwari LGA.

“A search of the suspect led to the recovery of four communication devices believed to be linked to terrorist activities,” Makama wrote.

The security analyst noted that all the suspects and recovered items remain in military custody while investigations continue.
