Navy hands over 840kg of seized cannabis to NDLEA

The Nigerian Navy said it has handed over 20 bags of Cannabis Sativa to the leadership of National Drugs Law Enforcement Agent

The Navy disclosed this in a post on its official Facebook page.

The ost read, “On Monday, 6 October 2025, the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT handed over 20 bags of suspected cannabis sativa weighing about 840kg to officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Lagos.


“The consignment was intercepted on Thursday, 2 October 2025, by NNS BEECROFT Quick Response Team (QRT) in conjunction with personnel of Operation MESA around Ijegun, Ojo, Lagos.

“The suspects, however, abandoned the vehicle conveying the drugs and fled upon sighting the patrol team.

“The successful interception aligns with the Strategic Directive of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, Admiralty Medal, to curb illicit activities within the maritime domain.

” NNS BEECROFT remains committed to intensifying surveillance, patrols, and intelligence-led operations to deny criminals freedom of action and enhance socio-economic activities within Lagos waterways and adjoining creeks.”
