Two killed as bandits attack Zamfara communities

Two separate bandit attacks in Zamfara State have left two people dead and three others injured, according to security sources familiar with the incidents.

In the first attack, about 43 armed bandits stormed Adabka Village in Bukkuyum Local Government Area at about 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, opening fire on residents.

A security source told Zagazola Makama that the gunmen “shot and killed Alhaji Muhammad Dan Dabara, 45, before fleeing the area immediately.”

He added that the victim’s remains “were evacuated to a hospital for examination and later released to the family for burial in line with Islamic rites.”

Investigations into the attack are currently underway.

In a separate incident, unknown armed bandits attacked Mashayar Zaki Village along the Gusau–Dansadau Road in Maru LGA around 12:45 p.m. on the same day.

According to another security source, “the assailants killed one person and injured three others before escaping into the forest.”

The injured victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the deceased was handed over to relatives for burial.

Security patrols have since been reinforced in the affected areas, with authorities saying they are “intensifying monitoring to prevent further attacks.”
