Baby Factory: Police Recover Stolen 10-Day-Old Infant In Zamfara, Arrest Suspect

The Zamfara State Police Command has recorded a breakthrough in a case involving alleged human trafficking, baby factory activities, and the theft of a 10-day-old infant from the General Hospital, Kaura Namoda.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, noting that the incident was reported at the Kaura Namoda Division three days before the recovery of the child.

According to the statement, hospital staff who were on duty at the time of the incident were invited and questioned to help ongoing investigations.

Subsequently, on May 15, 2026, at about 08:35hrs, the stolen infant was recovered at a nearby hamlet, the name of which was withheld.

The police said the baby was recovered unharmed and has since been reunited with the biological parents.

One suspect, whose identity was not disclosed, is currently in police custody and undergoing further investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command, CP Ahmad Bello, commended members of the public for providing timely information that aided the successful recovery of the child.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating all forms of criminality across the state and assured that further updates would be communicated as investigations continue.
