Abducted Plateau boy rescued after over two months in captivity

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace working in collaboration with community leaders, have secured the rescue of a kidnap victim who was abducted more than two months ago in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The victim, identified as Yahaya Uddido, was abducted on April 9, 2026, at Pikat community in Kanam LGA.

Yahaya regained freedom following sustained non-kinetic engagements involving local leaders and troops of Sector 2 of Operation Enduring Peace.

A security source said the collaborative efforts eventually compelled the abductors to abandon the victim in the Kukawa general area, where he was subsequently rescued by troops at about 12:20 p.m. on June 18.

“The rescue was achieved through a non-kinetic approach involving continuous engagement and collaboration between community leaders and security forces. The victim was abandoned by his captors and safely recovered by troops,” the source said.

Following the rescue, the victim was reunited with members of his family in Wase Local Government Area.
