IGP Disu celebrates Police officers on Father’s Day

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has celebrated fathers across Nigeria on the occasion of Father’s Day, commending their contributions to family cohesion, social stability, and national development.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, the IGP described fathers as critical pillars in the upbringing of responsible citizens and in strengthening the moral foundations needed for a peaceful and prosperous society.

IGP Disu acknowledged the sacrifices, dedication, and leadership demonstrated by fathers in raising children and promoting values such as discipline, integrity, hard work, and patriotism.

According to him, “Fathers play a pivotal role in nurturing responsible children and instilling sound moral values that are essential for nation-building.”

He noted that the daily sacrifices made by fathers in providing guidance, protection, and support for their families continue to strengthen the social fabric of society and contribute significantly to national progress.

The police chief also paid special tribute to officers of the Nigeria Police Force who combine the demands of policing with their responsibilities as fathers and guardians.

He commended police personnel who often spend long hours away from their families in the line of duty while remaining committed to their parental responsibilities and serving as role models within their homes and communities.

“The sacrifices made by officers who continue to serve the nation while fulfilling their duties as fathers deserve recognition and appreciation,” he said.

As Nigerians mark this year’s Father’s Day, Disu wished fathers across the country good health, strength, wisdom, and fulfilment.

He urged citizens to honour and appreciate the sacrifices, commitment, and enduring influence of fathers, noting that their efforts contribute immensely to building a safer, stronger, and more prosperous nation.

The Inspector-General reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting lives and property, strengthening community partnerships, and supporting initiatives that promote family values, social cohesion, and national development.

Father’s Day is observed annually to celebrate the role of fathers and father figures in families and society, recognising their contributions to the upbringing and welfare of children.
